In 2013, the remaining half of the copyright on that material
will revert to the heirs of
Joe Shuster.
This will leave DC and Warner Brothers unable to continue using those elements of the character
unless they choose to come to a financial agreement with the Siegel and Shuster heirs.

SUPERMAN'S COSTUME
"We'd like to tweak the costume
by finally getting rid of the red trunks.

Golden Age,
'primal'
Superman look and feels like an update. The move also has instant media appeal:

But if you saw someone walking down the street in that, you would view it as odd—so when the costumes were interpreted and put on screen and in video games,
modifications were made, and now the question is why in the world of comics should we be any more beholden to those original designs?

Note that the red trunks and yellow belt have been removed from Superman's costume,
possibly an influence of the
Ultimate Superman proposal
and/or carried over from the earlier
SUPERMAN 2000
proposal and/or due to the legal fallout described at the beginning of this article.
The high collar and the seam pattern appear similar to those of the
original Jor-L.
CLARK & LOIS' RELATIONSHIP
